What to have ready
Have whatever you can of the following handy for your call. Don’t worry if you can’t gather everything — just bring what you have, and we’ll work with it.
Personal debt
- A rough list of your debts — who you owe and roughly how much (credit cards, personal loans, buy‑now‑pay‑later, overdrafts, payday loans, car or home loans, ATO, fines).
- Your income — roughly how much you take home and how often you’re paid.
- Your main regular expenses (rent/mortgage, bills, essentials).
- Any recent letters, notices or messages from creditors or debt collectors.
- Whether you’re behind on any repayments, and roughly how far.
- Any hardship arrangements already in place, or any formal insolvency (bankruptcy or debt agreement).
Business or ATO debt
- Your business name and ABN.
- A list of the business debts and rough amounts (ATO/tax, bank or business loans, suppliers, equipment finance, private lenders).
- Whether the business is still trading.
- Whether any of the debts are personally guaranteed by you.
- Any notices or demands received (for example ATO notices, a statutory demand, or a director penalty notice).
- If you have them, recent financials from your accountant — ideally a statement of financial position (balance sheet) and a profit & loss, plus your latest BAS or tax position. These give us a clear picture of where the business stands. (Optional, but very helpful.)
Credit repair
- A copy of your credit report if you can get it — you can request one free from each bureau (Equifax, Experian and illion).
- Which listing(s) you’re concerned about — a default, a credit enquiry, or both.
- What the default is for, and who listed it, if you know.
- Roughly when it was listed.
- Whether the underlying debt is paid or unpaid.
- Any letters or correspondence about the listing.
